Action & Adventure Editorial Review
Prime Cut (Special Edition) [Blu-ray] presents an exceptional visual upgrade from previous releases, showcasing improvements in clarity and sharpness that breathe new life into this 1972 classic. Reviewers praise the natural, healthy look of the film, particularly in the previously murky dark scenes, now revitalized thanks to Kino's work from the original 35mm camera negative. Director Michael Ritchie delivers a captivating blend of dark comedy and action within the gritty backdrop of the meat industry, powered by strong performances from legends like Lee Marvin, Gene Hackman, and Sissy Spacek. Fans of dark satires will appreciate the film's insightful exploration of serious themes within a humorous context, enhancing its cult status over the years.
