How do I properly apply GORDONS Trimec Plus Crabgrass Killer?

To apply GORDONS Trimec Plus, mix the recommended amount of concentrate with water in a sprayer, following the instructions on the label for precise ratios. Ensure the area is damp but not saturated before application, and spray evenly over the affected areas. For optimal results, apply in calm weather to avoid drift and when temperatures are between 60°F and 85°F. This method is ideal when dealing with existing crabgrass or preventing future growth.

Is GORDONS Trimec Plus safe for all types of grass?

GORDONS Trimec Plus is formulated to be safe on many established grass types, including Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and perennial ryegrass. However, it is crucial to check the product label for specific lawn types, as sensitivity may vary. For instance, if your lawn includes Bermudagrass or Bahia grass, you may need to take extra precautions. Awareness of your grass type can prevent potential adverse effects while ensuring effective weed control.

Can GORDONS Trimec Plus be used in flower beds?

No, GORDONS Trimec Plus is not recommended for use in flower beds or around ornamental plants as it is specifically developed for turf areas. The active ingredients can harm desirable plants. Instead, consider using a selective herbicide designed for flower beds that can target specific weeds without affecting your flowers. This knowledge helps protect your garden and promotes healthy plant growth while managing weeds effectively.

What is the coverage area of GORDONS Trimec Plus Crabgrass Killer Concentrate?

The coverage area of GORDONS Trimec Plus Crabgrass Killer varies based on the formulation strength and application method. Typically, when diluted according to label instructions, one quart can treat up to several thousand square feet of lawn. This makes it an efficient solution for larger yards facing weed infestations. Ensure you measure your lawn before application to calculate adequate coverage, which allows for thorough treatment of targeted weed areas.

How long does it take for GORDONS Trimec Plus to show results?

Users can expect to see visible results from GORDONS Trimec Plus within 7 to 14 days after application. The effectiveness may vary based on environmental conditions, weed maturity, and proper application technique. For best results, apply during the growing season when weeds are actively growing. This period maximizes absorption of the herbicide, making it more effective in controlling crabgrass and other target weeds.

Can I mix GORDONS Trimec Plus with other lawn care products?

While GORDONS Trimec Plus can be combined with certain lawn care products, it’s essential to follow the label recommendations and conduct a small test beforehand. Not all products are compatible, and mixing can lead to reduced effectiveness or harmful reactions. Always check the specific instructions provided on the label for guidance on compatibility to ensure safe and effective lawn care practices.

What precautions should I take when using GORDONS Trimec Plus?

When using GORDONS Trimec Plus, wear protective clothing, such as gloves and a mask, to prevent skin contact and inhalation of the product. It’s advisable to apply it on a dry day when rain is not expected, ensuring the solution has enough time to adhere to the weeds. Keeping pets and children away from treated areas until the product has dried is also crucial. These precautions will enhance safety while effectively managing crabgrass.
